Frequently Asked Questions
I broke a needle while I was embroidering and it really jammed my machine. The new needle will not catch the bobbin thread, why?
First, let's check the needle. Is the flat side to the back and is it fully inserted. Loosen the needle screw and push the needle up into the needle bar as far as you can before tightening the screw.
If the needle is still not picking up the bobbin thread you could have a bad needle. Brand new needles can be bad. Entire packages can be bad. Try a new needle from the same package and then try a new needle from a different package. If the problem persists you have eliminated the needle as the problem.
Check the bobbin thread. Is there a sufficient thread tail for the needle to pick up? Always use the Bobbin Thread Cutter inside the Bobbin Cover to cut the bobbin thread tail.
Due to the impact of the needle with the race in the shuttle area, your BERNINA® could have a timing problem and will require a visit to an Authorized BERNINA® Technician.
