Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use pre-wound bobbins in my artista or aurora for embroidery?
We do not recommend pre-wound bobbins in our artista machines. The cardboard found on many of these bobbins covers the "low bobbin" sensor causing it to report low bobbin problems even though the bobbin is full. The bobbin case spring can also shred the cardboard, leaving residue in the bobbin area that can be hard to remove.
We have also found that with both the cardboard covered and "thread only" pre-wound bobbins as the bobbin empties it affects the tension on the bobbin thread. This can give poor quality embroidery results.
If you must use a pre-wound bobbin, look for one that does not have a cardboard cover, turn off the lower thread sensor, clean the bobbin area often, and change to a full bobbin when stitching outlines.
